During the Year of Faith (11 October 2012 – 24 November 2013), Archbishop Charles Bo of Yangon directed all parish priests in his Archdiocese to teach weekly catechism to the faithful. He sends out monthly pastoral letters to the people and requests them to read and reflect on them.
The Archbishop himself teaches catechism to young people in the Archdiocese on the last Saturday of every month. He has taught 2 times already and the number of youth participating is increasing now. December 2012 “Saturday Catechism Class” had over 200 young people from many parishes. The topics of his catechism is based on “The Apostles’ Creed.”
Every month on last Saturday, the catechism class begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 12:00 noon. Young people are invited to ask questions, to share their own ideas, and to become friendlier with one another. The Saturday Catechism Class is organized by the Chaplain and team members of Archdiocesan Youth Apostolate (AYA). It is held at the Archbishop’s house itself.
